Behind The Curtains

The laptop finally died.

Yes, the one I just got fixed per the last post. It’s not really surprising. I knew from the moment I got it back and after the diagnostics, that it was just a matter of time. Though honestly I expected it to live for at least six months. I guess I was too optimistic. On the plus, a new laptop. On the negative (or bad), I got a new laptop. With it comes the learning curve of the new OS (last one was Vista) and the ergonomics of the different layout. Oh, and realizing getting a laptop WITHOUT a CD drive–as practical and smart as it seemed at the time–was a bad idea when it came to loading software. Ah, first world problems.

Anyway, all settled now. The ordeal did sort of put a wrench in my publishing plans and the pen name stuff–though, yes it was done. I’ve done the final read-through and formatting for ebook. Then again, this will only be ebook. Later on I may make it part of an anthology of short works and perhaps at that time I’ll consider print. For now, this one is ebook only. At that, it’ll be Amazon exclusive for a bit.

There’s a certain excitement that rides this work. I’m not sure how to explain it. As I keep saying, it’s something different. I’m not sure how else to describe it. I suppose it’s a step in a different direction, and that in itself is exciting. It shows not only growth, but that I’m willing to step out of my comfort zone to try something new. And while some might challenge this by pointing out I’m publishing it under a pen name, I’m quick to point out it’s more audience. The works between my real name and my pen name are for two very different audiences.

Look forĀ The Envoy’s Interlude by J.S. d’Raven this weekend. It’ll go free initially. Grab yourself a copy!
